Design systems — have you built one yourself?
Several, in production. At Pasha Bank I migrated 300+ components from Sketch to Figma and built the design system behind 100+ banking screens. At GMS one system has run five years across BakuTV and oxu.az, web and mobile. At D-Tech, JOEL’s shared system covers six role-based interfaces, and its shop card went from 32 drawn variants to one component on variables. Citameya’s system is my own, built solo alongside the product.
B2B and SaaS?
JOEL — a jewelry marketplace with storefront, seller cash desk, admin tooling and mobile CRM, 500+ screens. Wasp — an ISO-compliant contractor CRM, 300+ screens. rahat — ERP and CRM alongside three apps. And Citameya, my own booking product for the self-employed in Spain, with Stripe billing in six languages.
AI products — have you actually shipped any?
Citameya takes bookings by voice. IQ30 runs local LLMs reading charts alongside reinforcement learning — 56+ strategies and 4,800+ trades logged, with the failures published next to the results. I take AI-generated video from script to finished cut, and I introduced AI tooling into newsroom and design workflows at GMS.
Two-sided marketplaces?
Four, each with both sides and the back office: JOEL for jewelry — storefront, seller cash desk, admin; rahat for delivery — customer, store and courier apps plus ERP; Citameya for booking self-employed pros in Spain — public booking page and the master’s dashboard; YIGMA for pickup football in Baku — Mini App, bot and venue-owner cabinet.
Mobile apps — anything shipped to the stores?
twelfy is live on iOS and Android — UI, animation and micro-interactions. Krepp, a fintech lending app, is in both stores too. rahat was three apps at once: customer, store and courier. YIGMA lives inside Telegram as a Mini App.
Fintech or banking experience?
Pasha Bank, 2018–19: the core flows — onboarding, payroll, payments, reporting — moved to a modern stack, 100+ screens, with research on 10+ users per workstream. Krepp, a lending app, is live in both stores. IQ30 is my own trading system. Citameya bills through Stripe.
High-traffic media products?
Five years on BakuTV and oxu.az at GMS, web and mobile, one design system across both. The oxu.az mobile redesign drove +20% cross-platform traffic — that one is mine and attributable. BakuTV serves 2.5M subscribers and 176M monthly views; those are platform metrics, not my design result, and I don’t present them as such.
Brand and identity work?
That’s where the twenty years start. Six at McCann Erickson (IPG network) on Coca-Cola, Unilever, Mastercard, Ferrero Rocher and Bakcell — 70+ brands in total. Recently: Pethoven, branding and packaging for a line of natural pet-care products, and a self-initiated rebrand for Martin Belda, an insurance brokerage in Salamanca — logo, identity, signage, stationery, vehicles.
Do you do research, or just visuals?
At Pasha Bank, 10+ users per workstream before design. Before building Citameya I interviewed salon owners. On expatly I ran a live price split — $19 against $24, server-side sticky assignment, results on a public dashboard. I run experiments on my own products rather than describing ones I once saw.
Event and spatial design?
The Martini hospitality space at the Four Seasons for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe, Baku 2016 — design, branding and on-site build-out. The UEFA EURO 2020 Baku host-city launch and the U-17 European Championship in 2016. AIBA 2011 — 506 boxers from 113 countries: identity, broadcast and both ceremonies. The IDEA pavilion and Art Payız at Port Baku.
Motion and video?
twelfy’s animation and micro-interactions, 360° video for Zhara Fest at Baku 360°, and at McCann the Coca-Cola Novruz campaign, whose TV spot took Best TVC at Golden Crown 2014. The AIBA 2011 video mapping — the first in Azerbaijan — was someone else’s work, and I don’t claim it. Now I take AI-generated video from script to finished cut with Grok, Qwen, Sora and Suno.
Game UI or iGaming experience?
twelfy — a daily prize game live on iOS and Android; the UI, the animation and the micro-interactions are mine. Beyond it, test assignments and my own projects — no studio years behind me. I’m glad to do a test assignment.
Do you write the code yourself?
I design and build: interface, brand, and the code that runs them — written by directing AI. IQ30 was built solo that way; Citameya is one React app and one Express API. That’s why my own products reach real users instead of staying in Figma.
Why solo?
Building end to end is how a design gets past handoff and into people’s hands. Citameya and YIGMA were each designed, built and shipped solo in three months, and both are live. Now I’m open to Product Designer and Design Lead roles, and to founding-designer work at early-stage teams.
Tell me about something that failed.
Two. IQ30’s edge decayed from +12% to zero — I published that on the case page instead of quietly dropping it. And rahat: three apps, an ERP, a CRM and a design system, built end to end in six months — and the product never got a single order. It’s some of the best process work in my portfolio attached to a commercial zero, and I don’t quote growth figures for it.
Have you led a team?
At GMS I led and mentored the design team — UX/UI and graphic — ran hiring interviews and onboarding, and kept 5+ products moving at once, ending as Design Lead. Before that: Creative Director at Baku 360°, and at Kuba a team of four — two graphic designers, motion and copy.
What tools do you work in?
Figma for design and interactive prototypes — I ran the Sketch-to-Figma migration of 300+ components at Pasha Bank. After Effects, Cinema 4D, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. My own products are built with React and Python, and IQ30 runs local LLMs.
How many years, and where?
Twenty. McCann Erickson Azerbaijan (IPG network) 2010–15, then agencies and product teams from 2016, Pasha Bank 2018–19, Baku 360° 2019–20, Baku Media Center 2020–21, Global Management Solutions 2021–26 as Product Designer then Design Lead, D-Tech 2022–25 in parallel as Lead Designer, and independent in Madrid since 2026.
In-house, or agency?
Both. Six years agency-side at McCann on international brands. Five in-house at GMS ending as Design Lead, with three years at D-Tech running alongside. Then my own products.
Any awards or recognition?
NETTY Expert and jury member since 2021, and a NETTY winner in 2008. Coca-Cola’s “Celebrate Novruz” took Best Connection Planning from Coca-Cola global HQ and Best TVC at Golden Crown 2014. Topaz “Let’s Bet?” won a Red Jolbors and was the largest Azerbaijani digital campaign of 2015.
What languages do you speak?
Russian is my native language. I also speak English and Turkish, and I’m learning Spanish.
Where are you, and is remote fine?
Madrid, Spain — Central European Time. Open to roles in Madrid or remote, and happy to fly in for team weeks at the company’s expense.
When could you start?
Immediately.
